There are three distinct courses of fire used in official WA1500 sanctioned PPC matches. They are categorised by the number of shots required to complete, and also determine the firearm and ammunition types permitted. Shooting takes place at distances of 3 to 50 metres/yards. All shooting is done with magazines of 6 rounds (for self-loading pistols) and 6-round speedloaders (for revolvers).
The 150 shot course is considered the 'main match' of a WA1500 sanctioned match. Results from the 150 shot course are used to determine the world rankings in each of the three main divisions (Pistol, Revolver, and Optical)
